Thanks to our great volunteer Heather, we got a lot accomplished even in the oppressive Oklahoma heat today. Starting at 7am Heather and I carted wheelbarrows full of chips to 2 large enclosures. This might not sound like much, but it was 6 trips each, shoveling them in carting them to the cage then dumping them out and raking them into place! Hot work I can assure you.
After cleaning climbing structures and shelves and replacing well loved toys with new, we were able to let the monks back into their clean enclosures. Lots of squealing and playing and searching ensued! They always check out their favorite places to see what we have done to their "stuff."
Tomorrow our other great volunteer, my hubby John, will make some much needed cage repair and build a climbing structure for Spock, Mia, and Peaches, our Java Macaque clan. Their current climbing structure has seen much better days and will be replaced with new. Look for pictures soon!
